The Importance of Routines and Transitions
Children thrive in an environment where there are routines. It reduces their anxiety by helping them anticipate what comes next and having the freedom to immerse themselves in the current activity. In addition, it helps them follow directions during transitions between activities. Our daily routine flow helps children move between individual vs. group activities and between types of tasks.
Kindergarten Readiness Skills
Parents often ask: What exactly should my child know before Kindergarten? Wonderbloom has summarized the key components of kindergarten readiness on our Lesson Planning chart. Using Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP), Wonderbloom uses hands-on, child-centered learning to help children master kindergarten readiness skills. Even more important to note is that children don't need to have mastered the alphabet or writing or statistics (!) to be ready for kindergarten. Our' approach to kindergarten readiness emphasizes preparing the whole child for the physical, emotional, and intellectual expectations of schooling through our unique nature-based approach.
Life Skills
Children are more than robots! Succeeding in school should not be the only focus of a high-quality early childhood education program. Wee Humans wants children to succeed in life. Childhood is a precious time of life where little ones are learning about all things that make us human such as trust, independence, caring, boundaries, communication, risks, friendships, consequences, stewardships, and love. Wonderbloom utilizes children's natural curiosity to build positive character traits and instill important values.
